- It’s not a get rich quick internet tech drop-shipping 4 hours a year business, but if you enjoy working with electronics and have the time to devote to learning the skill (and doing the work), $2k isn’t bad for getting into mobile phone repair. Lot’s of great free resources out there.
Start small and slow, make sure you have customers and the desire to do the business. Your primary costs will be in having stock of the most common spare parts.
- A number of years ago, I decided to start a blog and write up the projects I was already messing with for other people to learn from, with the end goal of maybe making a few bucks from advertising to fund hobby supplies. It wasn’t long until a random stranger found my blog and sent me an e-mail. “Hey, I saw you fixed a radio. I have that same radio, and money. Can we work something out?” So I took my first commercial job.
Fast-forward to today and now I own a stereo repair shop serving customers across the country, and I write a magazine column based mostly on my blog posts.
My local competition is all about to retire (not to mention most non-local competition)….things are going to get interesting in the next 3-5 years.
While these results aren’t very impressive compared to some people, the fact I’ve done it with only 20 articles posted and with no link building, hardly any social media or much of a clue what I’m doing might be motivation for some of you!

I started in January, didn’t get my first click through to Amazon for two months (I had 2 clicks in March). In June I made my first sale and earned a huge $2.12, and from there the snowball really took off with earnings doubling or more every month since. Continue reading
This month is the two-year anniversary of my entry into affiliate marketing with a little WordPress blog and the Amazon Affiliate program. In the last two years, I’ve had much more success with my single website than I initially imagined I would ever manage. The last few months have seen something of a decline compared to the high points of last year, but I’m gearing up a new strategy to take over rankings in a major way. Now that my site has built up some real authority and quality backlinks, I think I am well positioned to leverage my position in order to take it to a new level.
Most of the action took place in 2016. The site experienced massive growth starting in April of 2016. In January of 2016, I was already very happy with the website’s results. It was earning around $1,000/mo, having grown from earning nothing in April 2015, to a few dollars here and there, to a steady stream of income. By late 2015 it was making enough money to pay my (modest) rent, and I was very happy with myself. Continue reading
it starts off in a familiar way: The Four-Hour Workweek. That book got me hooked on finding a muse and the idea of passive income. The freedom to do whatever you wanted? Hell yes. The problem was, I didn’t have any good ideas. Each one I tried was half-assed, and I kept moving onto the next.
Fast forward about two years and I had consumed literally thousands upon thousands of online content – articles, podcasts, videos, books. Every time I’d read an article, I’d be hopeful and think “this is the one”. But it never was. Continue reading
I wanted to share a little bit of luck that I’ve had with a website and making money from Adsense. I’m not going to share the site for obvious reasons but I’ll share the stats with you. Hopefully, it will give people some insight into what kind of money you can expect to earn if you plan to go the AdSense monetization route.
The site is just a single page where users can play a game. The game isn’t unique, it’s actually a game that people have been playing for a long time and the rights don’t belong to anyone. There is a section on how to play, and a section on strategy just to give the site a little bit of content, but I haven’t changed it in months. Continue reading
